The Morning Air
In the gardens of the Royal Palace, the morning air feels self-evident.
Take a cup.
Preferably warm.
Add a coffee that steams without impatience,
a knife cutting through butter with the precision of a well mannered gesture,
a brioche offering only a delicate resistance,
eggs prepared with the calm that beautiful things deserve.
Then open the imaginary windows onto the Royal Palace:
the trees, the light, Paris which, for once, still asks nothing.
Stir slowly.
You will obtain something very close to happiness.
There are mornings that demand no productivity.
No answers, no decisions, no speed.
They ask only for presence.
On Saturdays and Sundays, at the Royal Palace, Paris seems to remember this before anyone else.
The trees barely stir.
Light enters with a softness the week seems to have forgotten.
For a moment, the city stops asking anything of you.
So brunch is no longer simply a meal.
It becomes a way of gently putting things back in their place.
A hot coffee held in the hands like a quiet comfort.
Butter slowly yielding on a still warm pastry.
Eggs prepared with the calm that beautiful things deserve.
A glass of champagne, if the day allows it.
The simple luxury of sitting without looking at the time.
At Maison Ruggieri, the weekend tastes of those seemingly small gestures that quietly bring you back to yourself.
Because sometimes, we do not need to go far.
Only a beautiful table, something warm in our hands, a little light on our face, and peace.
And in some cases, that feels very much like happiness.
